Dear Panther Family,

Thank you for the outpouring of support and concern for our students, faculty, administration and staff during this week’s incident involving an injured student. Please know that your Palmetto family is here for you and your students during times of joy and sorrow.

Crisis counselors were called to the campus immediately and will remain with our students as long as they are needed. In addition to our regular school counselors, including our Trust Counselor, staff clinicians and social worker, there are many community resources available to both students and parents.

MDCPS Mental Health Services has a wealth of information, including links to clubs, programs and both parent and student resources. Additionally, you can call or text 988 for the Miami-Dade Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, or you can text HOME to 741741 for the Miami-Dade Crisis Text Line.

MPSH Students are encouraged to attend the Teen Talk Roundtables on the following dates: 9/20, 10/18, 11/18, 12/6. All meetings will be held in room 3103 except for 12/6, which will be in the media center. Some of the topics to be discussed include school climate, generation gaps with families, peer pressure and body positivity.

Rest assured that our PTSA is working closely with our school to ensure that our students and families are fully informed about all the available resources, that our students know how to access them and that our teachers and staff know how to connect their students to these resources. Please remember to always choose kindness; we set the tone for how our students feel about school- our words, actions and behaviors influence how our students learn, adapt, change, serve, love, grow and succeed. Hug your loved ones a little bit more and remind them that they are surrounded by people who care about them and are standing by to help.

Be kind,

Elyssa Lewis

MPSH PTSA President
